Hi!
You've reached schweinsty :). She's not friended you right now, but leave a message and she probably will :).

Intro Post

Hello! This is my personal journal. As of 09/29/09, all fandom entries posted from this point on will be public, whereas only my personal ones are private. If you're still interested, drop me a comment and I'll probably add you :).

As of 02/06/08 I'm hosting all my fics/fanwork on the community [livejournal.com profile] ficcy_fic.

I'm on tumblr and twitter under the same handle, if anyone's interested - drop me a line here or there and I'll probably add you back.
Guh, the Dark Knight Rises trailer looks so good, it almost makes me want it to be June already.

So. I saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows today. There are some bits I like about this movie. Spoilers that aren't specific at all, I don't think ) I mean, there really are parts of this that I enjoyed! And yet. When I left the theater?

At first I left the theater and was pretty irritated, but not completely RAGEy, but like. This movie, guys. It. The way it treated its women. Makes me want to spit nails. And the more I think about it, the angrier I get.

Spoilers, obviously, huge spoilery ones )

Also, ps, Guy Ritchie? 3 things:

Spoilers, albeit ones that don't spoil Huge Plot Points )
WE WON.

AFTER 29 YEARS.

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE I WAS TWO YEARS OLD.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER.

DAY 3

Nov. 3rd, 2011 12:49 pm
My god. I'm halfway to today's wordcount goal.

Get to 500 words, I told myself, and you can go post on lj about how much you hate nano (The reward for getting to 250 was sending off a frustrated tweet. I think I've finally found the secret to bribing myself successfully: make like Captain Bligh and whine your ass off).

In between that angry tweet and this entry, though, I realized something about nano. Previously, I'd compared the process to getting your teeth pulled without anesthetic, but that metaphor is entirely inapt. Doing nano is like sitting at the table for two hours on end, watching your food get cold and trying to convince yourself to finish all your godamned peas already.

(Although, in retrospect, my childhood issues with food were probably caused by my then-undiagnosed ADD and the accompanying squickiness re: texture. [Not peas, though. I'm pretty sure peas are less of a texture thing (though, truly, they have an awful texture, with the squishy inside and the dull, paperlike shell) and more of a they-taste-awful thing. I mean, honestly - who likes peas? Nobody, that's who]).

When it comes to writing, I usually have an awful work ethic. It's the last thing I get done - usually illegibly, a halfhearted mess of blotchy pen on paper when I'm trying not to fall asleep (a method I don't suggest, unless you like ink stains on your duvet). It's the chips and pop and ice cream of my life. Nano is peas and tofu and salads with no dressing on them; but the only thing you'll get with chips and pop and ice cream is diabetes, and, as as Jim Butcher put it (and far more eloquently than 'eat your flippin' peas'), you won't end up with anything if you don't sit your ass in the chair and write.

So, peas it is - for the next two months, at least. Anyway. Sorry for spamming; I really should get back to writing - I'm getting thirsty, and only 200 more words and I can get another cup of lemonade.

Things

To-Do List:

1. Build the world a home
2. Furnish it with love

Grow:
1. Apple trees
2. Honey bees
3. Snow white turtle doves

If time allows:
1. Teach the world to sing (in perfect harmony)
Is there a way to batch add books to 'read' without getting the 'rate/review' pop-up when you click 'read' on a book?

Quick Note

May. 4th, 2011 11:28 pm
I'm having issues with my laptop and the family desktop, so I've not been on much, and I'm going out of town this weekend, so I probably won't be on lj much until next week. I've still got internet access on my phone, so if anyone has a pressing need to reach me, just email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. :)

have stomach flu. Feel miserable. :(
So working 31 hours in 3 days (19 in the kitchen) was an even less good idea than I'd thought.

OW.
OH HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT? DADT PASSES SENATE 65-31. LEGIT CRYING HERE. THAT IS ALL.
Why had I not seen this before?

Relevant part for lazy people:
Question-asking dude: Why did you cut your hair? Is it for good luck?
Nando (laughing): To be honest, I told my wife, I said- I need to look more like a father, but- everyone tells me now I look like a kid, so, it was a mistake.

And just because,

On another note, wow, Keith Olbermann is kind of a douche. Oy.
Dear lady customer with the squirmy little kid:

You thought you got away clean after yesterday's little incident; that I was a perfect waitress and harbored no ill feelings about your son (nephew? changeling?) dropping his glass of ice water down my shirt. And on that count, you're right. Stuff happens, kids are clumsy, whatever.

But for not even waiting until I was earshot to tell your son that "Of course she's not cold, she's just a waitress!"? OHOHO, I had my sweet revenge, let me tell you. Not only did I skip the lime on your replacement glass of water, my "Have a nice day" as you were paying was just dripping with sarcasm and insincerity (on the inside), and I totes gave you the Look of Death as you walked out.

How do you like *them* apples?

Sincerely,
Just A Waitress Who Is Way Too Nice To Spit In Your Drink Even If You Totally Deserve It, You Soul-Sucking Empathyless Douchenozzle Of A Customer
*Sigh*

First things first:
[livejournal.com profile] greenpixiehair, congrats. :). I'll never agree anyone should see Ozil cry, but Barca was by far the better team today, and y'all deserved the win. Messi was good, and bb Bojan played well for the bit he was in, from what I saw :). Oh, and Puyol was quite classy after the match, so props to your skipper.

Alrighty then. Warning: I do emo a bit, and am dramatic. )

In short?

¡HALA MADRID!
Re: Spain's new uniforms: I was unimpressed. More than unimpressed. I did not like them Sam I am. And then, this:

I suddenly see the appeal :D. Nando bitchface makes the world go 'round.

However: Re: Stevie's injury?
Gifs. Cut to spare your flist/bandwidth )
So. I have exactly enough free money to pay for one jersey + shipping in time for el Clasico. Originally, I was planning on a Liverpool Torres jersey, but I just found out there are two Barca fanboys in the class I have on Monday mornings, so of course it's going to be Real Madrid. But which one should I get? It's either Ozil or Sami, of course, for my first one (I'm leaning towards Ozil atm, but Khedira has become a surprising dark horse of late).

I kind of want to get the home kit, because I like how it looks, plus it's, y'know, their home kit. However, I have fairly bad rosacea/acne and not very good coloring to wear white with, so I'm afraid it would make me look like a glowing ghostie with a neon pink face. And I'm kind of vain. :|.

I'm equally torn between the away and 3rd kits, honestly. Both purple and dark blue are two of my favorite colors, and I *like* the slime green. And, generally speaking, both colors normally look okay on me, so I'm not fussed either way.

So. Opinions?
